Donation to Supported Community Business

Wych-Malbank Rotary members were delighted to have the opportunity to visit the premises of SCB, (Supported Community Business) in Crewe to present a handsome donation to Trustee, Sue Walton, following their application for support. The money had been raised in the last year from several fund-raising events such as the Santa float and Handmade in Nantwich.
SCB is a charity providing a therapeutic workshop facility to those in the locality with learning difficulties. After an outline about the organisation, several Rotarians were able to walk around and chat to participants about their work. They perform various labour-intensive, manual tasks on behalf of local companies, who pay a realistic price for the work done, based on minimum wages. Supervisory staff are always on hand to check the work and there was a great sense of teamwork and fun in the building.
SCB needed funds in order to purchase new weighing equipment which will allow the workforce to take on new tasks and contracts and expand their skillsets.
Wych-Malbank’s Charity funding application process restarts in August.
